Krishna District: Tortured by Husband, Married Woman Dies By Suicide

In a heart-wrenching incident, a married woman ended her life unable to bear the harassment by her husband at Kalavapamula village in Uyyuru mandal, Krishna district. In a suicide note left behind, she expressed dismay over her inability to tie the rakhi to him this year. She also blamed her in-laws for her husband’s harsh behavior. The victim, Sri Vidya, 24, working as a lecturer in a private college, got married to Rambabu, village surveyor in Kalavapamula in Uyyur mandal, six months ago. She alleged that Rambabu began torturing her after one month of their marriage. Every night, he came drunk and beat Vidya. Sri Vidya also mentioned that Rambabu slammed her head to the bed and thrashed her on the back when she complained that Rambabu was treating her worthless and insulting her, to a girl. She urged her family members not to leave her husband and his family members unpunished for harassing her.

Mild Tension at Private Hospital After Patient’s Death in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Mild tension prevailed at a private hospital in Suryaraopeta, Vijayawada, on Friday following the death of a patient during treatment. According to Suryaraopeta police, the patient, a resident of Kalidindi in Krishna district, was brought to the hospital by family members in a critical condition. However, he succumbed while undergoing treatment. Enraged over the incident, the deceased’s relatives reportedly confronted the hospital staff, blaming them for failing to save his life. During the altercation, a reserve sub-inspector of APSP, identified as Bose, sustained a minor injury. Police were yet to register a case when reports last came in.

Govt Staff Told to Adopt Eco-Friendly Commuting, Cleanliness

Vijayawada: Krishna district collector D.K. Balaji has urged government employees to embrace eco-friendly commuting practices and take an active role in maintaining cleanliness in and around all government offices. Leading by example, the collector cycled to the office on Saturday before spearheading a cleanliness drive on the collectorate premises. As part of the Swarna Andhra–Swachh Andhra programme, officials and staff from various departments joined the drive, clearing weeds and garbage from selected government office premises. To ensure sustained upkeep, the collector has introduced a roster system under which employees from different departments will jointly take up cleaning duties at one government office every Saturday. Teams of employees were deployed to clean the surroundings of the Post Office, Zilla Parishad, RDO, CPO, RTGS and Treasury offices. Acting on the state government’s directives to observe Swachh Andhra on the third Saturday of each month, the district administration has extended cleanliness activities to all Saturdays with the aim of transforming the collectorate into a clean, visually appealing campus. District revenue officer K. Chandrasekhara Rao, Zilla Parishad CEO Dr J. Aruna, BC welfare officer G. Ramesh, education officer P.V.J. Leaking oil from ONGC well damages rabi crop over 100 acres

Machilipatnam: Gas and crude oil from an ONGC well leaked causing panic among farmers at Chinnapandraka village in Kruttivennu mandal of Krishna district today evening and damaging crop in more than hundred acres.   Machilipatnam Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) P Saibabu told to PTI  that gas and crude oil from an ONGC well leaked  this evening at Chinnapandraka village which caused a panic among farmers. By the time ONGC engineers managed to plugged the leak about 9 pm today, the crude oil had spread over 100 acres of land damaging the rabi crop. The RDO said that ONGC officials arriving tomorrow would assess the loss and investigate the exact reason for the oil leak. He also said that ONGC officials had agreed to pay compensation to the affected farmers.
